Secrets of Kyoto Hanamachi history: Shimabara Tayu（Private）
Founded in the 17th century, Shimabara is Kyoto’s oldest Hanamachi（licensed entertainment quarter） — a refined world once enjoyed by aristocrats, samurai, cultured elites and even the Emperor.
This bespoke experience offers an intimate journey through Shimabara’s history, culminating in a private ozashiki with a Tayū. Within a cultural setting seldom accessible to ordinary visitors, you will encounter traditions that transcend mere performance.
Masterfully trained in classical dance, music, tea ceremony, and poetry, the Tayū is the highest-ranking courtesan, distinct from Geiko or Maiko.

10:30：Hotel pick-up → Transfer to Shimabara Otsubun
11:00：Historical talk on Shimabara by Mr. Kimura, young master of the Otobun
12:00：Walk to Wachigaiya → Private ozashiki with a Tayū (Wajichiya special bento served)
14:00：Experience concludes
14:30：Return to the hotel and the tour ends
